The Buffalo, New York law firm of Burden, Hafner & Hansen, LLC is proud to announce that it has been certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). Certification was awarded by the Women’s Presidents’ Educational Organization-NY Certification Committee after an extensive certification process.
Burden, Hafner & Hansen, LLC, was founded 10 years ago by Managing Partner, Donna L. Burden, as a boutique law firm providing representation to clients in a variety of matters throughout state and federal courts in New York in the areas of trucking and transportation negligence, employment law, municipal law and school law, labor law, automobile liability, construction defect, fire, first-party and subrogation, governmental liability, product liability, retail, premises liability, professional liability, medical malpractice and general negligence. The firm has a 24 hour/7 day a week emergency response team.
Donna Burden has over 25 years of experience as a trial attorney defending catastrophic personal injury cases, primarily in the areas of trucking and transportation negligence, as well as product liability, municipal law/governmental liability, employment law, professional liability, labor law and premises liability. Ms. Burden is an accomplished trial attorney who has been honored with membership in several highly selective and exclusive national and international organizations, including the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) and Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA). Ms. Burden served as the IADC Transportation Committee Chair for 2013-2014 and Vice Chair for 2012-2013 and served on the Nominating Committee for its leadership in 2016. She is on the TIDA Board of Directors. Ms. Burden was a National Director of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) from 2009-2012, Chair of the DRI Trucking Law Committee in 2007-2008 and Program Chair of the 2006 DRI Trucking Seminar. She was on the faculty of the IADC Trial Academy in 2015 and has spoken and published on topics of interest to the industry. Together with partner Sarah Hansen, she contributed a chapter to the IADC Trial Handbook, published in 2016.
Partner Phyliss Hafner is a trial attorney who concentrates her practice in defending personal injury cases all across New York State, primarily in the areas of products liability, labor law, trucking/transportation negligence, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice and municipal liability. Ms. Hafner is also licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Partner Sarah Hansen is a trial attorney who primarily defends personal injury cases arising out of trucking and automobile accidents, employment law matters, labor law, municipal law/governmental liability, premises liability cases, product liability cases and general negligence matters. She is on the Steering Committee for DRI’s Trucking Law Committee and Employment and Labor Law Committee and is past editor of DRI’s “The Whisper.” Ms. Hansen is the Webinar Chair for DRI Trucking Committee, has spoken on topics of interest and frequently publishes in national publications and newsletters.
